A Flower for the Faded Friendship

pinkflowerNow that the summer travels are over and things will soon be settling back into a routine, I am excited to start Flower a Friend Friday back up!

This past week I spent some time with someone I love very much but don’t see very often. Over the years as our communication has lessened, so has our friendship. Spending time with her reminded me why I love her so much and how greatly she has impacted my life. Often, we get caught up in running from one place to another and forget to invest in those friendships that mean so much.

I know I am guilty of getting caught up in the daily grind and filling my schedule from sunup to sundown. Each day I say I will call tomorrow, I will send out the birthday card next week, then a year passes and I see the distance that has set in. It is so easy to focus on all the activities around me and put my needs first. In one of my favorite books “The Go-Giver” the authors make the statement “If you put others needs first, yours will always be met.”

This is a great reminder of how I need to treat my relationships in my life. I want to show those who mean much to me that they are important. I believe from the bottom of my heart that if I put others’ needs first, the desires of my heart to feel valued and loved will be fulfilled.

Today, I challenge you to put your schedule to the side and remind someone you love that they are of value to you. Think of someone who have lost touch with and remind them why they are a blessing in your life. Flowers bring a sense of beauty into gloomy day. Put others needs first, YOURS will always be met. Happy Flowering!
